States’ crime rates show scant linkage to gun laws
President Obama has called for stricter federal gun laws to combat recent shooting rampages, but a review of recent state laws by The Washington Times shows no discernible correlation between stricter rules and lower gun-crime rates in the states.
States that ranked high in terms of making records available to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System also tended to have tighter gun laws — but their gun-crime rates ranged widely. Has anyone noticed that these mass shootings at public schools increased after the 1995 Gun-Free School Zone Act? Passed with good intentions, banning guns would supposedly make schools safer.
The Battle of Athens (TN) 1946
I was completely unaware of this event that took place in Athens , TN in 1946. I did not know an armed revolt by WWII veterans ever took place during our lifetime. A very sobering video to say the least. Now it makes the second amendment a little clearer. Be sure to see the actual photos at the end showing the plaques describing the event.

Florida firearm violence hits record low; concealed gun permits up
Debate continues over relationship between guns and crime
In the so-called Gunshine State, home to the most gun permits in the country, firearm violence has fallen to the lowest point on record.
As state and national legislators consider gun control laws in the wake of last month's Connecticut school shooting, Florida finds itself in a gun violence depression. The Firearm-involved violent crime rate has dropped 33 percent between 2007 and 2011, while the number of issued concealed weapons permits rose nearly 90 percent during that time, state records show.
